3 Doosan Group Affiliates Remain in Dow Jones Sustainability Indices
      2016-10-20
      - Doosan Corporation, Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction and Doosan Infracore have maintained their position in the DJSI
Doosan Corporation, Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction and Doosan Infracore have remained in the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI)*, one of the world’s major sustainability benchmarks, for 2016. Established in 1999, the DJSI is a set of performance indices jointly developed by U.S.-based S&P Dow Jones Indices and Swiss-based investment specialist RobecoSAM. It is the global standard against which the sustainability of companies is assessed based on their financial, economic, environmental and social performance. For the third consecutive year, Doosan Corporation has been included in the top 20 percent of the largest 600 companies in the Asia-Pacific region. The company was recognized for high performance in operational eco-efficiency, innovation management, and corporate citizenship and philanthropy. In the eco-efficiency category, it was named among the best performers in terms of greenhouse gas emissions and efficient energy use. Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction was first included in the construction and engineering sector of the DJSI in 2014 and has been named in the machinery and electrical engineering sector for the second straight year. The company received high scores in the categories of emerging market strategy, climate strategy, environmental performance, and corporate citizenship and philanthropy. The company’s climate strategy and environmental performance were most highly recognized thanks to its new renewable energy and low-carbon businesses—including wind power generation, integrated coal gasification combined cycle power system and energy storage system—which led to an increase in sales. Doosan Infracore, which has been included in the DJSI for seven consecutive years in the machinery and electrical machinery sector, has maintained its industry leadership in human capital development and occupational health and safety of the social dimension category every year. Compared to last year, the most notable improvement was made in the environmental policy/management system category. * DJSI: The largest 2,500 listed companies by float-adjusted market capitalization are assessed on a wide range of categories, including corporate governance, ethical management and human capital development. Only the top 25 percent of the companies on the assessment list are eligible for inclusion in the DJSI. The result of the assessment and inclusion in the DJSI are used as an important indicator of sustainability and socially responsible investment (SRI).
