On April 15, employees of Doosan Group (Chairman Jeongwon Park) from all over the world celebrated the Doosan Day of Community Service, offering a helping hand to make their local communities a better place to live.
This time, more than 8,400 employees in 20 countries in Asia, the Americas and Europe took part in the corporate volunteer program together to help improve their local communities. The event, which debuted in October 2014, is the fourth Doosan Day of Community Service and has become part of the Company’s unique culture of corporate social responsibility (CSR).
In Korea, employees made furniture for low-income families, visited the disadvantaged and performed environmental cleanup activities. The U.S. team helped children in need through donations and volunteer activities at local facilities. In the U.K. and other European countries, employees helped renovate and repair church community centers and facilities for the disabled. Meanwhile, employees in India and Vietnam refurbished and repaired schools, community facilities and homes of low-income families.
Doosan Group Chairman Jeongwon Park also participated in the furniture-making program held under the theme of “Heartwarming Furniture Story” in Seoul. The furniture made by Chairman Park and Doosan employees will be delivered to elderly householders living alone in a dire residential condition. The furniture is made up of space-saving pieces to maximize the use of space in each house.
“As a corporate citizen, it is our obligation and privilege to fulfill our social responsibilities,” Chairman Park said in his opening remarks. “I hope you will have a meaningful time sharing the warmth with your local communities.”
