DI Signs Engine Supply Contract with Daedong Industrial, Korea's No. 1 Agricultural Machinery Manufacturer

- DI set to supply 6,300 eco-friendly G2 engines to Daedong Tractors
Doosan Infracore (CEO Dongyoun Sohn) announced on February 14 that it had recently signed a contract with Daedong Industrial, the country's leading manufacturer of agricultural machinery, to supply it with tractor engines. According to the agreement, DI will deliver a total of 6,300 3.4-liter class (D34) small diesel engines (G2 Engine) to Daedong over the next five years.
The G2 engine is an environmentally-friendly and highly efficient small engine that DI developed in 2012 with its own technological capabilities. The engine is equipped with innovative technology that enables it to minimize the generation of exhaust emissions without installing a high-cost diesel particulate filter, thus ensuring that it satisfies both North America's Tier 4 Final and Europe's Stage IV emissions standards.
According to a DI official, "Daedong Industrial has revealed its intention to place top priority on DI engines whenever it places an order for electronic engines with a capacity of 3 liters or more, in addition to the current contract for 3.4-liter engines."
DI has continued to expand the customer base of its G2 engine, which now includes not just Bobcat but also a number of prominent companies in the fields of agricultural machinery and construction equipment such as forklifts. In November 2015, DI was selected by Kion Group of Germany, the world's second biggest forklift manufacturer, as the engine supplier for its premium forklifts. Shortly thereafter, in December 2015, DI began to supply its G2 engine to Tong Yang Moolsan Co., Ltd., one of the four largest manufacturers of agricultural equipment in Korea. Among the other companies with which DI expects to sign contracts to supply its G2 engine in the near future is Kukje Machinery, Korea.
In the long term, DI plans to increase its annual sales of G2 engines from 37,000 units in 2015 to 100,000 units in 2020.
