Doosan Enerbility Wins Contract for Saudi Arabia Jafurah Cogeneration Plant Phase 2 Project
      2026-06-01
      - EPC contract worth approx. KRW 840 billion signed with consortium led by project developer KEPCO
      - Designed to have the capacity to generate 330 MW of electricity and 465 tons of steam per hour, with steam turbines being supplied by Doosan Skoda Power

Doosan Enerbility recently won a contract valued to be approximately 840 billion won for the construction of a cogeneration power plant in Saudi Arabia.

On June 1st, Doosan Enerbility announced that it had signed a contract with the consortium consisting of Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) and Saudi Arabia’s Aramco for the “Saudi Arabia Jafurah Cogeneration Power Plant Phase 2” project. KEPCO, as the project developer, will be overseeing the project development and operation. Doosan Enerbility, as the EPC contractor, will be handling the overall process from design to equipment supply, installation and plant commissioning.

The Jafurah Cogeneration Power Plant Phase 2 project will take place near the Jafurah Gas Field, which is located 400km east of Saudi Arabia’s capital, Riyadh. Once the plant has been built, which is scheduled to be done by 2029, it will have the capacity to generate 330MW of electricity and 465 tons of steam per hour, enabling the supply of electricity and heat to the nearby gas field. The steam turbine, a key component, will be manufactured and supplied by Doosan Enerbility’s subsidiary, Doosan Skoda Power.

“It is truly meaningful to have won the contract for Phase 2, after winning the Phase 1 contract back in 2022,” said Hyeonho Lee, CEO of Doosan Enerbility’s Plant EPC Business Group. “As we expect to continuously see many more orders come in from the Middle East region, not to mention Saudi Arabia, for large-scale power plant projects, we plan to use our extensive technological expertise and experience to target the market even more effectively in the future.”

Doosan Enerbility has been successively winning large-scale projects in Saudi Arabia recently, leading to the strengthening of its market position. Numerous contracts were won last year alone, such as the Peaking Unit Generation Plant contract, valued to be approximately 290 billion won, which was awarded by the Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation (QEWC) last February, as well as the 2.2 trillion won contract for the Rumah-1 and Nairyah-1 combined cycle gas-fired power plants and the 890 billion won contract for the Power Plant 12 (PP12) project in Saudia Arabia last March.
