Doosan and NVIDIA, the dominant leader in artificial intelligence (AI), will forge a full-scale partnership to accelerate physical AI integration in construction equipment, power generation equipment, and robotics.
On the 31st, Doosan announced that it is pursuing a strategic partnership with NVIDIA to accelerate physical AI integration. The two companies plan to engage in full-scale technological and research collaboration to optimize the intelligence of Doosan's business areas. The ultimate objective is to train NVIDIA's physical AI technology with Doosan's business area-driven data to secure a customized Foundation Model (FM)* optimized for Doosan.
* Foundation Model: An AI neural network trained on massive amounts of data, capable of performing a wide range of tasks, including text translation and robotics. Examples include NVIDIA's Cosmos and OpenAI’s ChatGPT.
Doosan possesses and produces vast amounts of data given its long history and dominant market share in business areas such as construction machinery, power generation equipment, and robotics. Having such data trained into AI models is expected to enable the creation of top-tier AI services in these areas, along with the adoption of specialized physical AI for each business area.
To achieve this, the two companies plan to engage in research collaboration on AI technology and data, namely: ▲ utilization of NVIDIA's physical AI models, simulation technology, and AI infrastructure; ▲ comprehensive personnel and technical support, including priority access to NVIDIA's new physical AI technologies; and ▲ regular research staff exchanges. Moreover, they will actively partner to expand NVIDIA's AI platform in the domestic market.
A Doosan representative affirmed, "Given that NVIDIA’s infrastructure and technological prowess are unrivaled in the AI ecosystem, we will persistently forge our partnership with them to secure a competitive edge in the physical AI sector."
Doosan continues to pursue investments and innovation in physical AI, establishing this year the "AX Center," a new entity within the holding company dedicated to physical AI innovation, and forging an industry-academia partnership with Stanford University's Institute for Human-Centered AI (HAI), one of the world's leading AI universities. In September, Doosan Group Vice Chairman Park Gee-won and other key executives visited Seattle and Silicon Valley in the U.S. to explore partnerships with leading companies and research institutes at the vanguard of the global AI industry, namely NVIDIA, Amazon, and Stanford University.
