Doosan Enerbility Attends the Offshore Wind Supply Chain Conference & Exhibition 2025
      2025-07-02
      - MOU signed with nine local partners on promoting the offshore wind supply chain
      - International certification to be obtained this month for 10MW Korean-standard offshore wind turbine model, with plans to target global markets

Doosan Enerbility, Korea’s leading company of offshore wind turbines, is embarking on a joint initiative with local partner companies to promote growth of the offshore wind supply chain.

Doosan Enerbility announced on July 2nd that it had signed a memorandum of understanding with nine local partner companies* at the “Offshore Wind Supply Chain Conference & Exhibition 2025” held at BEXCO in Busan, on pursuing mutual growth through promotion of the offshore wind supply chain in the Korean market.  In attendance at the event were Yeonin Jung, Vice Chairman and COO of Doosan Enerbility; Seungwoo Sohn, CEO of Doosan Enerbility’s Power Services Business Group and the leaders of the nine partner companies.
      * Sanil Electric, Samil C&S, Sunghyun Co., Shilla Corporation, LSK, Woorim PTS, Eunsung O&C, ENTEC Electric & Electronic, Human Composites Co.

The MOU was pursued for the purpose of establishing a solid foundation for the supply chain, which is essential to expand and enhance competitiveness of the Korean offshore wind industry.  To this end, the parties agreed to cooperate on the following areas – promoting growth of the Korean domestic offshore wind industry, improving product competitiveness through technology development, and cultivating a stable supply chain based on mutual growth.

Doosan Enerbility had set up an exhibition booth at the event to showcase its offshore wind turbine lineup encompassing the 3MW, 5.5MW, 8MW and 10MW models, and introduced its accomplishment of being the first and largest track record holder in the Korean wind market. An overview was also provided of Doosan’s offshore wind turbine manufacturing facility located at its Changwon headquarters.  Doosan has plans to obtain international certification this month for its homegrown 10MW offshore wind turbine model, the Korean-made wind turbine with the largest generating capacity to date. The turbine has been designed so that it is capable of recording a 30% or higher utilization rate even during times when the average wind speed is a mere 6.5m/s.  Doosan Enerbility also gave a presentation at BEXCO’s Seminar Zone on the subject of “K-Wind Offshore Wind Turbine Development Status & Future Plan.”

We find it truly meaningful to have signed this MOU with our domestic partners at this point of time when expansion of the Korean offshore wind market is being pursued in earnest,” said Yeonin Jung, Doosan Enerbility’s Vice Chairman and COO.  “Based on the foundation of mutual trust and cooperation, we hope to help each other gain more competitiveness, so that we may expand our reach in not only the domestic market, but the wider global market as well.”

Doosan Enerbility had commenced the offshore wind power business in 2005 and since then, it has supplied wind turbines for numerous projects, such as the Tamra Wind Farm (30M) in 2017, the Jeonbuk Southwest Sea Wind Farm (60MW) in 2019 and Jeju Hallim Wind Farm(100M) in 2025, thereby earning the reputation as the largest track record holder for offshore wind turbines in Korea. Moreover, Doosan has contributed to the cultivation of Korea’s offshore wind ecosystem by effectively raising the local manufacturing rate of parts from the initial 30 percent range to over 70 percent.
