Doosan's eco-friendly future technology has been recognized by a competition honoring world-class innovative technologies.
Doosan has announced that seven of its products and technologies were selected as the honorees at the CES 2022 Innovation Awards on November 11. Doosan's products and technologies that won the awards are: the Tri-gen hydrogen fuel cell system; a waste plastic hydrogenation technology; a solar power plant inspection solution using hydrogen drones; the DJ25 vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) fixed-wing hydrogen drone; the T7X all-electric loader; a patterned flat cable (PFC); and a camera robot.
● Presenting various possibilities with advanced hydrogen utilization technology
One area that Doosan has received particular attention for is its hydrogen utilization technology. Doosan Fuel Cell's Tri-gen fuel cell system, which won the Innovation Award, is a product that can simultaneously produce hydrogen, electricity and heat as needed, and is expected to contribute to expanding the much-needed hydrogen charging infrastructure. Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction won the Innovation Award for its technology that produces hydrogen through the pyrolysis of waste plastic.
Doosan Mobility Innovation (DMI) won two awards for its hydrogen drone products. One drone that can inspect hundreds of thousands of solar panels through automated flight for more than two hours in a 66,000-square-meter solar power complex, and the DJ25, a VTOL fixed-wing drone that can fly 500 kilometers for more than five hours and 30 minutes with a significantly increased flight distance, each received the Innovation Award.
*Vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) fixed-wing drone: An airplane-type drone that takes off vertically and flies for a long time using wings and propellers
● Demonstrating competitiveness in future technologies such as electric construction machinery, advanced electronic materials and robots
Doosan Bobcat's fully electric compact track loader, the T7X, is an eco-friendly product that completely eliminates the need for hydraulic systems, unlike conventional loaders that are powered by internal combustion engines.
A patterned flat cable (PFC), showcased by Doosan Corporation Electro-Materials BG, is a connection material made by combining the advantages of a wiring harness and flexible printed circuit board (FPCB). While it is thin and light, the length of the cable can be extended as desired by the customer. In particular, when applied to an electric vehicle battery, the mileage can be increased by more than 80% by reducing the weight of the wiring harness.
Both products were developed by Doosan for the first time in the world and received the Innovation Award in recognition of their technological advantages.
Doosan also excelled in the field of robotics. Doosan Robotics won the Innovation Award for developing a "camera robot" that allows anyone with no experience in robotics or photography to create professional content. Unlike existing camera systems that use an industrial robot, this product is compact in size and safe for people to work with.
The CES Innovation Awards are given to world-leading innovative technologies and products by the Consumer Technology Association (CTA), which hosts the Consumer Electronics Show.
A Doosan official said, “We have won meaningful awards with eco-friendly future technology at a global competition of innovative technologies. It proves that Doosan's new future technologies have the potential for global success."
