Doosan to Construct Group’s Advanced Technology R&D Center in Yongin, Gyeonggi-do
      2021-10-07
      - The goal is to maximize synergy through R&D collaboration among affiliates
      - Hydrogen technology research facilities to be the first move in 2022
      - Construction of the entire center to be completed in 2026

Doosan has revealed that it will build the Group’s Advanced Technology R&D Center in Yongin, Gyeonggi-do. It plans to maximize technology and R&D synergy by consolidating the Group’s R&D capabilities, including its hydrogen technology research facilities.

On October 7, Doosan announced that it had signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Yongin to build the Group's center. Doosan will acquire the new site by the end of the year and plans to complete the construction in 2026. Doosan first set a priority to establish hydrogen technology research facilities by the second half of 2022.

The new center will house the R&D departments in each field of the hydrogen business value chain from Doosan Corporation, Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction, Doosan Pure Cell, and Doosan Mobility Innovation. Moreover, the center will create an optimal environment for high-tech R&D outcomes by locating in one place all the hydrogen technology research facilities that are currently scattered in the capital region due to spatial constraints.

That being said, the R&D center shares infrastructure, technologies, and information by gathering R&D capabilities to create new growth engines for the Group. Accordingly, the Group’s affiliates can establish a closer cooperative system for jointly developing core technologies.

“The new Advanced Technology R&D Center will be the foundation for growing the Group's growth engines, including hydrogen technology, faster and more efficiently,” said a Doosan official. He stressed, “By constructing the R&D center, Doosan will help Yongin City to become a central city for future industries and also focus on revitalizing the local economy, including job creation."
