Doosan Group (Chairman Jeongwon Park) announced on Dec. 19 that it will attend the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2020, which will take place in Las Vegas, U.S., for four days from Jan. 7 to 10.
It is Doosan’s first time to participate in the CES, through which it aims to reveal the future vision of its business and enhance the company’s image in the global market. Also, Doosan is seeking solutions for future growth at the show, where cutting-edge technologies come together in a world which no longer has clear boundaries between the conventional manufacturing and information technology sectors.
Doosan will showcase its digitized products and technologies under the corporate concepts of ‘Fun’ and ‘Tomorrow’ at CES 2020.
Its booth will largely be composed of four sections; ‘Construction Tomorrow’, ‘Mobility Tomorrow’, ‘Factory Tomorrow’ and ‘Energy Tomorrow’.
In the ‘Construction Tomorrow’ section, ‘Concept-X’, Doosan Infracore’s unmanned automated construction solution, will be displayed. ‘Concept-X’ is a comprehensive control solution which uses a drone to scan the landscape of a construction site in 3D, then analyzes the landscape data automatically and sets up a work plan which controls the unmanned excavators and wheel loaders as they carry out their work. Meanwhile, Doosan Bobcat will exhibit technologies controlled remotely by smart phones, which were recently released in the U.S, and an AR-enabled work support program.
In the ‘Mobility Tomorrow’ section, Doosan Mobility Innovation (DMI) will show off its hydrogen fuel cell-powered drone, which won the ‘CES 2020 Best Innovation Award’. DMI’s hydrogen fuel cell-powered drones can fly for more than 2 hours, which helps to overcome the limits of battery powered-drones, which can only fly for 20 to 30 minutes. DMI is also planning to announce its plan to launch its hydrogen fuel cell-powered drones in the U.S. market during the exhibition.
Doosan’s booth will be 483 square meters, and is located in the South Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC). A video clip which shows the future value that Doosan is pursuing will be screened on the three sides of the display installation at the booth. In addition, AR-experiencing programs will be offered so that visitors can have ‘Fun’.
Visitors to Doosan’s booth will be able to enjoy cheerful performances by collaborative robots, which will be staged about 20 times a day. The performances will describe the future of factories, called ‘Factory Tomorrow’. Also, Dr. Dennis Hong, a robotics engineer and professor at UCLA, will be giving a lecture on ‘Humans and Robots’ at Doosan’s booth on Jan. 7 and 9. Collaborative robots will be making drip coffee as well, which the visitors can enjoy.
In the ‘Energy Tomorrow’ section, the energy technology of a foreseeable future city will be displayed through hydrogen fuel cells, wind power, Energy Storage Systems (ESS), etc. Especially, Doosan Fuel Cell will introduce how hydrogen fuel cells work and the key features of its products.
Members of Doosan’s senior management team will visit other participating companies’ booths as well as Doosan’s booth to take in the current technology trends. Additionally, they will hold a workshop on site to discuss how to respond to new technologies and seek directions for Doosan’s future business.
“Doosan will focus on revealing its future vision by introducing its future products and technology at CES 2020,” a Doosan official said. “Taking this opportunity to attend the CES, Doosan will strive to pick up its pace to achieve its goal, ‘to contribute to making a safer and more convenient future society’, in every sector.”
