Doosan Hosts ‘Doosan Tech Day’ in Indonesia
      2019-11-14
      - To promote its infrastructure business by Doosan Infracore and Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction and its new business such as collaborative robots and hydrogen-powered drones

Doosan Group (Chairman Jeongwon Park) held an exclusive exhibition event to introduce its latest technologies and products in Indonesia with many local business leaders and government officials present.

On November 14th, Doosan Group hosted the ‘Doosan Tech Day’ in Jakarta, Indonesia together with Doosan’s major affiliates such as Doosan Infracore, Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction, and Doosan Robotics. BPPT (English: Agency for the Assessment and Application of Technology) provided its exhibition space as the venue of the Doosan Tech Day.

The total number of guests reached over 200 including high-ranking Indonesian government officials such as Ridwan Djamaluddin, the Coordinating Deputy Minister for Maritime and Investment Affairs, CEOs of major state-owned companies, Changbeom Kim, the Korean ambassador to Indonesia, and Hyunsoon Lee, vice chairman and chief technology officer of Doosan Group and Hyungbum Baek, senior vice president of Doosan Infracore Engine BG. Invested companies that made an inroad to the Indonesian market and Doosan’s local business partners also joined the group of participants.

Doosan Infracore exhibited its diesel engines and after-treatment components; introduced the 'Indonesian National Engine Manufacturing Project' it is promoting with a local engine company; and tried to secure potential customers and business partners. Doosan Infracore also held a technology seminar on expanded biodiesel applications and engine and after-treatment technologies. In August 2019, Doosan Infracore signed an engine production and sales contract with Indonesia's state-owned engine production company BBI (PT Boma Bisma Indra) whereby it will help BBI develop engines after going through the stages of SKD (Semi Knocked Down) and CKD (Completely Knocked Down). At the event, Doosan Infracore presented its flagship construction equipment, concept construction equipment, and ‘Concept-X,’ exclusive future-oriented construction site realization project.

Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction focused on the introduction of its EPC business, power generation equipment, and gas turbine technology as well as its overseas network. It was quite helpful in raising the company’s corporate awareness among the representatives of the Indonesian government and the country’s public corporations. In September 2019, Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction signed a KRW 120 billion-worth contract with PT. PLN, the government-owned public electricity distribution company, for the equipment supplies to the Palu III Coal-Fired Power Plant. Earlier in 2017, Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction won a contract for the Muara Tawar Power Plant Conversion Project as part of its endeavors to expand its presence in the Indonesian power generation market.

Doosan Robotics, Doosan Industrial Vehicle, and Doosan Mobility Innovation featured their respective key product lineups such as collaborative robots, forklifts, and drones powered by hydrogen fuel cells and actively carried out various marketing activities.

Hyunsoon Lee, vice chairman and chief technology officer of Doosan Group said, “It is a very special opportunity to be able to showcase Doosan's top-tier technologies and brands in Indonesia with the local government’s active support and interest behind.” He also added, "We will expand our business opportunities focusing on the projects related to government policies and continue to strengthen our local network.”

Doosan Group is planning to pursue technology transfer and develop engineer training programs as a part of enhanced collaboration efforts with Indonesia. It also tries to make a contribution to the working environment so that industrial workers can work in a better, advanced condition.
