On April 25, Doosan Group celebrated the Doosan Day of Community Service, the day when Doosan People all over the world joined together to help their local communities.
Celebrating the sixth Doosan Day of Community Service since the first event in 2014, close to 7,000 employees from 19 countries, including the United States, China, the United Kingdom, India, Saudi Arabia and South Africa, participated in various volunteer programs.
In Korea, employees crafted storage cabinets to be donated to neighbors, painted walls and visited the disadvantaged, including the elderly in senior homes, to lend a helping hand. Employees in overseas business sites, including in the United States and Europe, repaired public facilities, cleaned the environment, and donated school supplies and daily necessities to educational facilities in their local communities.
Along with executives and employees in Seoul, Korea, Doosan Group Chairman Jeongwon Park participated in “Heartwarming Furniture Stories,” an event in which employees crafted handmade furniture, including storage cabinets and bookshelves, to donate them to underprivileged households in local communities. The pieces of furniture were delivered to welfare facilities and over 150 households, including “slice rooms” (tiny subdivided housing units) located in Jung-gu, Seoul.
“The Doosan Day of Community Service has become Doosan’s unique culture and festival of sharing where all Doosan People worldwide come together,” said Chairman Park. “I hope our neighbors can feel the warmth through our activities that took place all over the world today.”
