Doosan Group Vice Chairman Geewon Park, top management team to visit CES 2018
      2018-01-10
      - Team to seek business opportunities by touring exhibitions featuring smart cities and robotics
      - Separate workshop with local experts to focus on recent global trends in digital technology
Doosan Group Vice Chairman Geewon Park and members of the company’s top management team will pay a visit to the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2018 in Las Vegas, Nevada, a Doosan official said on Jan. 10. The management team will include Hyunsoon Lee, vice chairman/chief technology officer; Wonjoon Hyoung, president/chief digital officer; Hyunsoo Dong, president of Doosan Corporation Business Division; Dongyoun Sohn, CEO of Doosan Infracore; and Scott Park, president of Bobcat. The purpose of the visit is to understand the latest global technology trends such as AI (artificial intelligence) and IoT (internet of things) in order to explore ideas as to how these latest trends can be combined with the Group’s digital transformation, an initiative being carried out in various projects throughout the Group, and thus seek new business opportunities. In order to accelerate the Group’s digital transformation in line with the fourth industrial revolution, Doosan created a new organization called CDO (Chief Digital Officer), and brought in Wonjoon Hyoung, formerly the CEO of SAP Korea, to lead that effort in December. Led by Vice Chairman Geewon Park, the management team will tour major exhibitors’ booths at CES and hold a separate workshop with experts there. They will have an in-depth discussion with globally-renowned Silicon Valley accelerators such as Alchemist (and its CEO) and digital experts from the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) about recent digital tech trends and Doosan Group’s business areas such as smart cities and robotics. The senior management team continues to visit global trade fairs such as CES (in the U.S.) and Hannover Messe (in Germany) to identify the latest technologies so that Doosan can launch new businesses with new technologies and further the Group’s efforts to meld digital technology into its existing businesses. As a result, Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction has established its Remote Monitoring Service Center (RMSC) to manage generator operation using big data. It also supplies system software to its customers both in Korea and the U.S. that enables efficient control of energy storage solutions (ESS). Doosan Infracore provides its customers with a telematics service, which enables the remote monitoring of construction equipment. In addition, Doosan Corporation launched a collaborative robot business at the end of 2017. At the same time, Doosan Group is working on incorporating “smart factories” and “smart offices” into its existing businesses to improve productivity and quality.
