On Jan. 20, Doosan Yonkang Foundation (Chairman Yong Hyun Park) held a ceremony to commemorate the publication of a compilation of travel essays titled, “Thinking of Korea in Emerging China,” in the Grand Ballroom at COEX, Seoul.
The book chronicles the accounts of 120 schoolteachers from elementary, middle and high schools who participated in an eight-day, seven-night economic tour program to China in June to observe the Chinese economy and culture. Copies of the book will be distributed to institutions across Korea, including public libraries, university libraries, and the Office of Education.
“In order to nurture the future leaders of the Korean economy, teachers must be able to follow and be exposed to global economic trends,” said Chairman Park. “By offering them a chance to have a broader experience, I believe the program will help our teachers gain a greater insight into ways to nurture the next generation of Korea’s leaders.”
Since 1989, Doosan Yonkang Foundation has offered overseas academic tours to teachers recommended by metropolitan and provincial offices of education nationwide. A total of 2,377 teachers have participated in the program to date.
