Doosan Infracore Excavator DX Series Wins 'Red Dot Design Award'

Doosan Infracore (CEO Dongyoun Sohn) has announced that it has won an ‘Honorable Mention' at the Red Dot Design Award 2016 for the design of its DX Series. It is the company's second Red Dot Design Award, having won the Best Red Dot Design Award in 2009 for the product concept of its CX Excavator Series. It is also the first time in the world that a construction equipment manufacturer has won a Red Dot Award in both the product concept and mass-produced product categories.
The Red Dot Design Award is one of the three most prestigious design awards in the world, along with the iF Design Award and the IDEA (International Design Excellence Awards). Red Dot awards are given in three categories, including product, communication, and concept, according to the criteria of design, creativity, practicality, and eco-friendliness, etc.
The DX Excavator Series embodies Doosan Infracore's key construction equipment design concepts - 'robust,' 'powerful' and 'agile.' The product series also features dynamic decals on its rear and sides.
Doosan Infracore Design Team said, "Traditionally, excavator designs were 'horizontal and quiet.' The new design is more dynamic and three-dimensional, reflecting Doosan’s confident brand image." He went on to say, "The latest Red Dot Award has once again proven Doosan Infracore's world-class design competencies."
Doosan Infracore also won an ‘Honorable Mention' for its design of a fingertip controller for the forklift of Doosan Corporation’s Industrial Vehicle BG. The design was particularly highly recognized for its ergonomic features, which are designed to boost convenience and emotional quality.
The designs of the Doosan Infracore DX Series and the Doosan forklift also won a special award and a bronze award, respectively, at the PIN UP Design Awards 2015 hosted by the Korea Association of Industrial Designers.
