Doosan Teams Up With KEPCO E&C for Overseas Wind Power Projects
      2016-03-25
      - Two companies sign MoU to collaborate on developing wind power projects and advancing into overseas markets
Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction (Chairman & CEO Geewon Park) announced on March 25 that it signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with KEPCO E&C to collaborate on the development, construction and operation of overseas wind power projects as part of their joint efforts to successfully penetrate the overseas markets. Under the MOU, KEPCO E&C will be able to apply Doosan’s advanced wind power solutions when co-developing wind power projects overseas, and would be chosen as an EPC (Engineering, Procurement & Construction) contractor, being in charge of the entire project ranging from design, production to installation work. As a leading wind power developer in Korea, KEPCO E&C has an extensive overseas network and the capacity to effectively execute overseas wind power projects. In December of last year, KEPCO E&C was awarded with a project from Jordan’s National Electric Power Company (NEPCO) to build and operate the 89.1 megawatt Fujeij wind power plant in Amman, Jordan, the first-ever for a Korean company. Since 2011 when Doosan applied its very own technology to develop Korea’s first globally-certified 3MW-class offshore wind turbine, the WinDS3000™, Doosan has been proactively expanding into the wind power business, and it currently holds the largest track record to date as the leading supplier of wind solutions for on/offshore wind farms in Korea. The wind turbines that have been supplied or are under construction by Doosan amount up to 207 MW (3MW x 69 units) to date.
