Doosan Yonkang Foundation (Chairman Yong Hyun Park) announced on May 31 that it has delivered 520 million won (about $465,000) in scholarships to support 216 students who serve as the heads of their families in commemoration of “Family Month,” which took place in May. The students were also invited to outdoor events hosted by the company.
The scholarship recipients were selected from among elementary and middle school students from marginalized households and those without guardians. Doosan employees also accompanied the students on the special outings.
At the end of April, 52 middle school students were taken to a baseball game at Jamsil Baseball Stadium while 107 elementary school students spent time with Doosan volunteers at Everland, an amusement park in Yongin-si, Gyeonggi Province.
Since 2006, Doosan Yonkang Foundation has offered scholarships and outdoor events to elementary and middle school students who act as the heads of their households. So far, 2,468 students have benefited from the program.
