Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction (DHIC) won the first contract for nuclear power Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) in the Chinese nuclear market. On March 31, 2021, Doosan revealed that it had signed an Industrial Anti-seismic Protection System (IAPS) contract with Chinese company called China Techenergy Co., Ltd. (CTEC).
The Instrumentation and Control (I&C) is the core system of nuclear power plant, serving as brain and neural network in nuclear power plants and providing integrated management solution for operation, control, monitoring, instrumentation and emergency safety functions. IAPS is also one of the equipment of I&C.
The IAPS will be used to automatically shut down the reactor if the earthquake sensor reaches or exceeds the set value during operation of the nuclear power plant.
Doosan will follow through with design, manufacturing, testing and installation of IAPS for Xudapu Units 3 and 4 by 2024.
In 2018, Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction signed an MOU with the CTEC (I&C company) to promote the cooperation, which contributed to the IAPS contract this time.
Kiyong Na, DHIC’s Nuclear BG CEO said, "This contract means that Doosan's technology has been recognized by the Chinese nuclear power market. We will continue to seek ways to expand cooperation with CTEC for further business partnership and accomplishment in the Chinese nuclear power market."
From signing a contract for Qinshan Phase III major equipment supply with TQNPC (Third Qinshan Nuclear Power Co. Ltd) in 1997, Doosan made a contract with CNEIC (China Nuclear Energy Industry Corporation) to supply Reactor Vessel for Qinshan Phase Ⅱ in 2005, and also successfully supplied Reactor Vessel and Steam Generator to SNPTC for Sanmen NPP unit 1, Haiyang NPP unit 1 in 2012.
