Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction bags order for KRW 620 billion combined cycle power plant in Guam
      2020-12-21
      - EPC contract signed with the project developer, KEPCO-Korea East West Power consortium
      - 200MW combined cycle power plant and 25MW ESS to be built in the U.S. territory of Guam’s Dededo

Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction recently won an order for a KRW 620 billion combined cycle power plant project in Guam.

Doosan announced on December 21 that it had signed a contract to construct the Guam Ukudu 200MW Combined Cycle Power Plant, a project in which the Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) and Korea East-West Power(EWP) consortium is engaged as the developer.

The project involves building a 200MW combined cycle power plant in the Dededo area, which is located about 5km northwest of Antonio B. Won Pat International Airport in Guam. The client, Guam Power Authority (GPA), selected the KEPCO-EWP consortium as the developer for the project.

Doosan was selected thereafter by the consortium as the EPC contractor responsible for all the processes from plant engineering to equipment manufacturing, installation, and commissioning, with plans in place to have the plant construction completed by 2024. Doosan will also be applying its technology to construct a 25MW energy storage system (ESS) to ensure a stable power supply. Once the plant has been built, it is expected to become the largest baseload power plant accounting for about 40% of the power supply in Guam.

“We will do our best to make this project an exemplary case of global business expansion, one that was achieved through the joint efforts of Korean developers and EPC contractors. We plan to strengthen our efforts to penetrate the overseas market for combined cycle power plants,” said Inwon Park, CEO of Doosan Heavy’s Plant EPC Business Group.
