The Tea of Love Movement
The Tea of Love Movement began in 1991 as a way of gratitude to the soldiers and policemen for their efforts in line of defense and service. As of 1999 we have delivered a total of 22.6 million cups to 219 military bases and 35 police stations twice a year, spring and fall.

Doosan Bears Accumulates 'SAVE POINT of LOVE'

From 1998, Doosan Bears is leading in helping teenage head of household by accumulating save points of 30,000 won each time the team succeeds homerun and base stealing.

Donating Doosan World Encyclopedia CD-ROM

Doosan Venture BG has donated 10,600 sets of Doosan World Encyclopedia CD-ROM through Kim Duk-jung, the Education minister. The CD-ROM is distributed to 10,400 elementary-, junior high-, and high schools and is used as an education information material.


Culture and Art

Yonkang Hall, Supporting in Culture and Art activity
Doosan has built Yonkang building with 500 seats at Chongno 5-ga in May 1993, and is contributing in growth of culture and art.

New Year Music Concert

The New Year Music Concert began in 1992. Doosan family starts a year by listening to melody, the concert is serving as a mean to solidify harmony within the Doosan family, and is taking root as a precious tradition only available in Doosan.

Education

Yonkang Foundation, Overseas Observation Tour for Teachers
Doosan's Overseas Observation Tour for Teachers is a program designed to provide elementary-, junior high-, and high school teachers with an opportunity to visit the traces of our cultural and historical heritage evident in Korea's neighboring countries such as China and Japan, so they can enrich their classrooms with better knowledge and insight. Since 1989, the program has taken some 1,200 teachers to historical sites located in China, Japan and other countries. The Overseas Observation Tour is a unique corporate culture offered by Doosan to promote cultural and historical legacy of Korea.

Scholarship

Doosan set up Yonkang Scholarship and has been awarded the scholarship to those students of model standard and outstanding academic record from less fortunate family background every year. Since 1997, Doosan has awarded the scholarship to a total of 3,597 high school and college students.

Training program for Chinese Researcher

With a need to understand China is rising at the turning point of internationalization and open-door policy in 21st century, Doosan began supporting in-depth study of China with long term vision the first in the nation. The successful candidates are selected through the process of recommendation from the college after having completed Ph.D. program in Sociology in local universities.
Once chosen as the program participants, they are financially supported in airfare, expenses, and tuition so they can continue their study at prestigious universities such as Peking University in China.

Support Korean Language Education at Auckland University in New Zealand

Doosan has established Korean language department at Auckland University in New Zealand in 1988. Since 1990, Doosan selects five students studying Korean language at Auckland University every year and provides full financial assistance, so they can attend Korean language course at Yonsei University Korean Language Institute, giving them opportunity to learn not only Korean language but also culture and custom.
Financial Support for Mongolian students Studying in Korea From 1994, Doosan selects two Mongolian students and awards them scholarship and financial assistant for their study in Korean university and graduate school.

Establishment of Korean Studies Department and Support Studies on Korean Studies

With an intention of spreading the superiority of Korea by widely spreading Korean language, society, economy, and culture, Doosan is at forefront on establishing Korean Studies Department in universities abroad. So far we have established and provided financial support at Washington University and University of Hawaii of US and Barcelona University of Spain.

The Book-Sending Movement for Korean Nationals Overseas

This movement started with an intention to raise national pride and national consciousness by learning about development of Korea to Korean nationals overseas.
Since 1989, the movement has been sending books to a total of 139 places including 88 places in China, 50 places in Russia, 1 place in New Zealand by collecting books donated by various press agencies and publishing companies. The movement has sent a total of 34,000 books until 1998.

Provide Financial Support to Environment Professors

As Korea became more and more aware of importance of environment, Doosan began providing financial support to environment research professors researching on creating better environment for research on technology development and improvement.
Since 1993, Doosan selects and support environment research project from ten universities nationwide every year, and we ask that the research be practical one by selecting projects directly related to our everyday life such as air, waste, and wasted water.
The financial support is 10 million won per project and we have supported 532 million won to 66 professors as of 1999. The outcome of research is produced in books every year and is sent to environmental organization, school, corporation, and environment professors, and the research paper is contributing as an outstanding tool to related organization and scholars studying and trying to improve the environment.

Opening of Environment Education Center at Worksite

To help students and general public to understand the environment easily and realistically, Doosan has opened all of its worksite as environment education center from May 1994. Opening of Doosan Environment Center - With its goal as the world's top environment corporation, Doosan has established Doosan Environment Center in January 1997. The activities of the center are environment inspection, training through research development of environment technology, and public relations. Also, it provides financial support to selected domestic environment professors on their research.

Doosan, Corp. Holds Environment Preservation Essay Contest

Doosan Electro-Materials BG holds Environment Preservation Essay Contest with co-sponsorship with Environment Protection Agency since 1995. The purpose is to raise the importance of environment preservation to teenagers. The prize-winning essays are put together as a book and are distributed to elementary-, junior high-, high school, and government offices.

Life and Sports

Doosan Corp., Raises Future Professional Golfers
Chunchon Country Club selects junior golfers from Nam Chunchon Girls' Junion High School since 1991, and provides intense training under the guidance of professional golfers. Currently Cho Kyung-hui (Freshman at Hanrim University) from our program is playing as a member of national team.

Doosan Bears League, Holds Little Baseball League
Doosan Bears holds Doosan Bears League Seoul City Elementary School and Little Baseball League co-sponsorship with Seoul City Baseball Association since 1986 to raise future prospect baseball players and stabilization of baseball population.

Financial Support for Research in Pure and Basic Science

With realization that only by supporting pure and basic science, science can grow without distortion, Doosan is active in providing financial support to university auxiliary research institutes and professors studying pure and basic science on academic research since 1979. Major intermediate and long term supporting organizations are Institute of Korean Culture in Korea University and Women's Studies in Ewha Womans University.
The Institute of Korean Culture in Korea University had predicted opening of China and started working on "Chinese language Dictionary" since 1980 and completed in ten years. The dictionary is widely credited in academia. The institute is also proceeding 10 years plan of publishing "Complete works of Korean Classical Literature" again.
The Woman's Center at Ewha University has divided "Collection of Materials on Korean Women" into modern times and contemporary times and studied for eleven years since 1980, and published the research book. Since 1991 the center is working on "Collection of Materials on Korean Women" through authentic records of dynasty.

Research on Microorganism Fermentation Research / Investment

Doosan continuously researching and investing for commercialization of microorganism fermentation and Kimchi by jointly researching on 'Storing Kimchi year-round and prevention of acidification' with KAIST from 1977.
