By acquiring Škoda Power in 2009, Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction secured core technology for 50Hz steam turbines, which account for 85 percent of the global turbine demand. Škoda Power, a maker of power generation equipment in the Czech Republic, began turbine production in 1904, and has since supplied steam turbines to 62 countries worldwide.
